K. Akmal Script A Thriller Vs W. Indies

Those who say 50-overs cricket has lost its ticker needed to look no further than the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi for a humdinger. Pakistan overcame a sluggish start and a middle-order wobble to sneak the most thrilling of last-over wins over West Indies.
After winning the toss and batting, West Indies settled for a below-par 294, which owed mostly to Chris Gayle's glorious 113, his 17th one-day hundred.

  • One Player make the Difference:
Just 96 runs were scored since Gayle departed in the 35th over, and only 71 in the last ten overs, credit to Pakistan for sticking to their guns on a hard pitch. Ultimately, that made a big difference.

  • Big Difference
Needing 17 from the last over, Akmal slashed JE Taylor the second and third deliveries for six, backing away the two deliveries made the big difference: cue hysteria in the ground. By fumble in the field two became three with an overthrow, and Alam clipped the fifth delivery of the final over for a single to seal victory. Akmal's 24 from nine balls, however, was the clincher.

Important here is to develop the players in such a way that they will be able to handle the situation in any condition. Because one Good/Bad delivery or foolish hit can turn the table in cricket.

Government is going to resolve issue of banned ICL players

The entire cricket Boards specially PCB has to change its policies about the player’s contracts. I don't think that if a player gets a chance to play for ICL, he should go and be banned by the board. This is totally unfair. This is stopping a player from earning through his chosen profession. I think that the government bodies must take action regarding the contracts.

I think, we should not lose our legend players like this way. A spoke person of government said that president Zardiari is very keen to see the revival of cricket in Pakistan cricket. Government must formulate the policies against the players professionals needs and sports pride of Pakistan.

Indian Cricket League Created Problem

Indian Cricket League ICL has crated the problem both for the players and the cricket boards. Pakistan cricket board PCB is also facing the same contract problems. Pakistan’s key batsman Mohammad Yousuf has crated a problem for board and officials by signing up again with the ICL.

ICL first edition came in 2007, for the first time. Since then all the Cricket Board all over the world passed a rule about the contracts of the player with ICL. BCCI played a role in banning the ICL contracted players the reason is that ICL is not recommended by the ICC. So, the PCB took the same actions and banned the ICL players.

Some important legal questions remain unanswered at the moment, for the ICL's latest acquisition is a long-running saga. Yousuf had initially signed up with the league in September 2007, in protest at being axed from Pakistan's squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa.

PCB’s officials got Yousuf under confidence that they will get IPL contract for him next season. He was later lured out of playing in the ICL by the Pakistan board, with the promise of a lucrative contract in the IPL. But the ICL took the matter to an arbitration court in Mumbai, arguing that as Yousuf had signed up with them, he was ineligible to play for any other league. So a stay order against Yousuf was passed. But now Yousuf is going to join ICL by putting his International career in danger.

Gilchrist Raised Issue of Ball chucking:

Former Australian player Adam Gilchrist raised the issue of ball chucking by Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan in his autobiography True Colors. He also raised the question about the action of Murali. The former player also lamented that Murali can straighten his arm with in the allowed range.

Murali was facing the action problems during the mid 90’s cricket seasons. He continues that back in 1995-96 when Darrell Hair and Ross Emerson no-balled him in Australia. Every time the issue regarding Murali bowling was raised in Australia by the Australians. But the Sri Lankan authorities gave a new color to the issue what they called it racial attack between White and Black.

Gilli said the ICC had to change the rules to avoid such issue and to accommodate Murali. So, the issue is that Politics is involved in cricket by some means. I personally think that ICC rules must be so strict that no one can raise such issues. I think that this is the nature of Australian to blame any player specially the Asians. They only believe that the rules and ethics are only for them. Any political issue regarding cricket is raised form Australia. Now no one knows what actually happened? Either Murali can straighten his arm of he had protected himself by saying “racial attack”.

Cricket Politics

Pakistan is facing the worst security and terrorism issues since last couple of years. Tragedy for Pakistan is that the foreign media is stressing more on terrorism in Pakistan then reality. So every one out side Pakistan considers every Pakistani as a terror……………….

Champion trophy was going to held in Pakistan about couple of months ago. This was really a big event for a country like Pakistan. Every cricket lover in Pakistan was planning to enjoy this big event. All the security and other related planning were on their way to completion. Almost all the cricket boards were sending their security team to Pakistan to visit the event sites. Media coverage was provided to the security teams for political purposes. International cricket council also sent its security team to Pakistan as well. At that time security was issue in Northern areas of Pakistan and in capital to some extent but it was not a big issue to resolve.

All of sudden a gossip floated in the media that the Australian players are not willing to play in Pakistan because of security issues. With the passage of time other players of different countries started behaving in the same way as Australian done. It is important to discuss that not a single complaint is made by any Asian player.

Firstly ICC decided to delay the Champion Trophy for one month. It was a wise and reasonable decision at that time. Every lover of cricket had a sound relief on this announcement. But later on the event was postpone to next year.

Question is India is also facing the terrorism problem but with little intensity than Pakistan. Several bomb blasts and suicide incidents happened in India during the last two or three months. So the security concern is there too. Question is why Australians make them ready to play in India than Pakistan. The security risk is also there.
